This morning, Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi, in a gathering with a number of clerics, preachers, and orators of the country who had attended his office on the eve of the month of Muharram, referred in his remarks to the recent attack by the Israeli regime and the martyrdom of a number of honorable Iranian citizens, describing this act as an open aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and warning of its dangerous consequences.
He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently in a very difficult situation, facing aggression from a state that, since its establishment, has been built upon invasion, killing, usurpation, and displacement, and which, despite numerous United Nations resolutions, has continued illegal settlement expansion in Palestinian territories for more than seventy years.
He warned regional and global countries that, although the attack was carried out under the pretext of the nuclear issue, the matter will not end with Iran. He described the nature of this regime as expansionist, adding that under the slogan “from the Nile to the Euphrates,” it poses a threat to all countries in the region.
Emphasizing national unity, he stated that although differences of opinion exist within the country, when Iran is under attack by a criminal foreign regime, all should stand united in condemning it.
He also expressed concern about the expansion of state terrorism, stating that terrorism in any form is condemnable, and state terrorism is even more so. He added that such actions are not only contrary to human and religious principles but also violate the UN Charter and international resolutions.
He condemned threats against the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that no government has the right to authorize assassination or threats against leaders of another UN member state, noting that such threats are currently being made.
He warned that if such behavior becomes normalized, it would create a dangerous precedent in international relations, not limited to Iran, and could lead other powerful states to pursue similar actions. He said this would constitute a global threat that must be firmly condemned.
Referring to the role of the people in determining their country’s destiny, he stressed that no foreign government has the right to impose its will through coups or military intervention, citing historical examples such as Chile.
In conclusion, he prayed for the martyrs of the nation and asked for divine assistance for the country, addressing his words to Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and Imam al-Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), stating that this land is the center of Shiism and has long been a source of hope for Shiites worldwide, and that it requires special divine support and care.
