At the beginning of his advanced jurisprudence (fiqh) class today (09/02/1404), Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi, referring to the anniversary of the birth of Hazrat Fatimah Masoumeh (peace be upon her), honored this day and described her as the benefactor of all of us, especially the religious seminaries and the scholarly center of Qom.
He then referred to the tragic fire incident at the Shahid Rajaee port in Bandar Abbas, expressing deep sorrow and offering condolences to the bereaved families. He said: “I wished to congratulate you on this blessed day, but during these days our hearts are in mourning. The tragedy that occurred in Bandar Abbas took the lives of many of our brothers and children, mainly workers and drivers who were present at the site. Some families are still searching for the remains of their loved ones, and the situation is extremely difficult and painful.”
He emphasized the hardship faced by the survivors, stating that they are deeply grieved and that he offers heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He also praised the dedication of firefighters and emergency responders who, under dangerous conditions and with limited resources, worked to control the fire, expressing gratitude and praying for their success.
In another part of his remarks, he stressed the importance of addressing workplace safety issues seriously, saying that identifying the responsible party is only one part of the matter and that legal action must be taken, but more importantly, the root causes of such incidents must be carefully examined to prevent their recurrence.
He criticized the neglect of safety standards in workplaces such as mines and ports, stating that such incidents cannot be ignored and that proper laws must be enacted and implemented effectively. Authorities and supervisory bodies, he added, must act more decisively to prevent similar disasters in the future.
In conclusion, Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi prayed for divine mercy and forgiveness for the victims, wished a swift recovery for the injured, and emphasized his full solidarity with those affected.
