Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi, in a speech on the eve of the blessed month of Ramadan, referred to three important points and emphasized the importance of solidarity and observing divine sanctities during this month.

In the first point, he addressed the economic situation of the people, stating that many families, especially this year when Ramadan coincides with Nowruz, are facing significant difficulties in providing food and essential necessities. Those who have financial means should not withhold assistance from others in this special situation, and should even help others with as little as a small need, bringing joy to people’s hearts in this blessed month.

He emphasized: “If we cannot provide direct assistance, at least we must stand alongside the people with empathy and compassion. This sense of solidarity is of great importance in this blessed month.”

In the second point, he stressed the issue of fasting and the importance of preserving the sanctity of the month, saying that those who, for any reason, are unable to fast should still respect the sanctity of Ramadan and avoid eating or drinking in public.

Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi emphasized that respecting the sanctity of Ramadan is very important, and we must strive to make the best use of its spiritual virtues.

In the third point, he referred to the overlap of Nowruz with the days of mourning for Imam Ali (peace be upon him), stating that in addition to respecting these days of mourning, special attention must also be paid to the dignity of Imam Ali. Love for Imam Ali (peace be upon him) holds a sacred and special value not only among Shiites but also among all people, even non-Muslims.

He stated that although Nowruz and its traditions are naturally important to people and part of daily life—such as cleaning homes and visiting one another, which is not problematic—one principle must always be observed: the sanctity of Imam Ali must also be preserved.

He stressed that during these days, even when traveling or unable to fast, one should avoid public displays of festivity and maintain respect for the dignity of Imam Ali.

In conclusion, Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi prayed for the success of all believers in the blessed month of Ramadan and the new year, asking God to make this month full of blessings, grace, and health for everyone.
