Speeches text
Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi, this morning in the first session of his jurisprudence (fiqh) class in the new year (17/01/1404), expressed gratitude to clerics and religious مبلغین (missionaries/preachers) of the blessed month of Ramadan for their presence and accompaniment of the people during difficult conditions, describing it as a great and valuable act of worship.
He appreciated all preachers and clerics who carried out religious outreach during Ramadan despite difficult circumstances, stating: “Your presence alongside the people, even if only in the form of sympathy and listening to their concerns, is itself a great act of worship whose merit is even greater than the fasting of Ramadan itself.”
He also referred to the upcoming 8th of Shawwal, the anniversary of the destruction of the graves of the Imams of Baqi (peace be upon them), describing this day as a symbol of the oppression of Shia Muslims and called on scholars and seminarians to keep this occasion alive.
He stated: “The 8th of Shawwal is a symbol of the oppression of Shia Muslims. Shiites have always faced various challenges and threats, not only against individuals but even against the graves and shrines of the Imams (peace be upon them). Keeping this day alive is a response to this historical oppression.”
He emphasized that preserving this symbol reflects resistance against currents that, based on incorrect beliefs, continue to oppose Islamic and Shia values.
Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi, stressing the importance of this occasion, asked students of religious sciences to suspend their classes on this day in respect for the occasion and to hold mourning gatherings. He also announced that his fiqh lesson would be canceled the following day on this occasion and that a mourning assembly would be held.
