At the beginning of today’s advanced jurisprudence lecture (09/02/1404), Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi, referring to the anniversary of the birth of Hazrat Fatimah Masoumeh (peace be upon her), honored this day and described her as the benefactor of all of us, especially the Islamic seminaries and the scholarly center of Qom.

He further referred to the tragic fire incident at the Shahid Rajaee port in Bandar Abbas, expressing deep sorrow and offering condolences to the bereaved families. He stated: “I wished to congratulate you on this blessed day, but during these days our hearts are in mourning. The tragedy that occurred in Bandar Abbas took the lives of many of our brothers and children; mostly workers and drivers who were present at the site. Some families are still searching for the remains of their loved ones, and the conditions are extremely difficult and heartbreaking.”

Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi, pointing to the difficult situation of the survivors, emphasized: “We are truly grieved and in mourning, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”

He also appreciated the dedication of firefighters and emergency responders who, under dangerous conditions and with minimal equipment, worked to control the fire, thanking them and praying for their success.

In another part of his remarks, he stressed the necessity of serious attention to workplace safety, saying: “Identifying the responsible party is only part of the matter, and of course legal action must be taken against them; however, more important is the thorough and root-cause investigation of the incident to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies in the future.”

Criticizing the negligence of safety requirements in workplaces such as mines and ports, he stated: “We cannot easily overlook such incidents. Necessary laws must be formulated and properly implemented. Authorities and supervisory bodies must act more seriously to prevent similar disasters.”

In conclusion, Ayatollah Alavi Borujerdi prayed for divine forgiveness and mercy for the victims of the incident, asked for a swift recovery for the injured, and emphasized his full sympathy with those affected.
